The Aeron – the bad back chair recommended by bad back sufferers?

recommended the Aeron in preference to other so-called ‘bad back chairs’,
praising the ergonomic design that supports the spine whilst allowing movement
and flexibility.
For office workers, chairs that force the user to lean too far forward or back
or which are set at the wrong height are among the most commons causes of
painful back and neck strain. They also contribute to leg, arm and shoulder
problems. The Aeron’s ergonomic design encourages a good sitting position.
As one recent reviewer described:
“the chair actually forces you to have good posture when you’re sitting in it
– it’s a subconscious thing, but then you’ll catch yourself doing it – pretty
amazing really”
Herman Miller, the manufacturer of Aeron chairs, have capitalized on their
understanding of the differences in body proportions, including the spine, to
design chairs that support the four regions of the spine, and which allow for
spinal variations. It was one of 40 industry partners participating in the
CAESAR (Civilian American and European Surface Anthropometry Resource) study,
the first large-scale, three dimensional anthropometric survey of civilians in
the US, the Netherlands, and Italy.
